NAME: Nira Tyr
CANON: Pokemon OC
POINT IN CANON: After Etna is adopted
AGE: Mid-40s
APPEARANCE: Here
Nira's a fairly tall, albeit scrawny, woman for her age. She tends to wear rather casual clothes all the time, and her hair generally hangs loose behind her. She always seems to have a bit of rocky dust clinging to her, and her hair, while well-brushed, doesn't seem to be washed often.
( CANON HISTORY )
( CANON PERSONALITY )
POINT OF DEPARTURE: Pretty much any version of Nira is going to have her determination and self-confidence. However, how well she's able to express that depends on the kind of world she's in, since I see all versions of her as being pretty sickly. However, her ability to interact positively with others may vary widely depending on the nature of her Infiltration. A younger version of her, or one who hasn't had many friends, will probably be more prickly and sarcastic.
Any version of Nira is not likely to be very open about her weaknesses, except to people she considers close friends of hers. She will also tend to befriend animals more easily than people, although depending on her Infiltrator background she may also be nicer to kids. The younger she is, the more likely she is to lash out and just hit someone instead of talking things over, or messing with them in secret.
No matter what, Nira will be fiercely loyal towards and protective of anyone she has come to care for. Despite that, some versions of her that haven't really had many friends, human or otherwise, when younger, might also push her friends too hard, and be less empathic towards their problems. A large part of her empathy also comes from her own experiences with kids from all backgrounds, so she probably won't be as aware about their problems unless her Infiltrator version has also dealt with lots of cases like that.
Other versions of Nira will probably keep her fear of flying, but not so much her nervousness around water.
VETERAN?: N/A
ABILITIES: Nira is a skilled survivalist, and knows everything about surviving in mountainous regions and in caves. She can move among those regions with ease. As a result of her travels in places like those, she has stronger low-light vision than most humans, and is also better at controlling her own falls. She is also a skilled sword-fighter, and has several techniques that involve scraping her sword against nearby walls or the ground to create sparks that can be ignited.. Nira can also focus enough to command three Pokemon at a time.
Supernatural-wise, she is considered a Rock-type for the purposes of elemental interactions. She has the ability to summon and control stone in a wide area around her, as long as she can see it. She has some talent in shape manipulation of it, and has used this talent to build up a house from the bedrock, as well as make even more rooms in it later on. She has the Abilities Sturdy, Solid Rock, and Courage, which means that she will take no damage when using recoil attacks, is immune to any instant-kill/OHKO attack, will take at most half her health in damage from any attack, and will become both better at dealing damage and more resistant to damage when at a third of her health. Her connection to the earth allows her to act as a living gem dowsing rod, allowing her to both find and pull elemental Shards from the ground, and she is capable of turning elemental Shards into Gems, Evolution Stones, or various jewels with even more effects.
She has a connection to Terrakion as his Messiah, and can channel his energy to give her walking stick a sword-shaped aura that enables her to use Sacred Sword, an unerring Fighting-type attack. Although she is physically frail, she can channel the strength of her spirit into physical strength in battle when standing on solid ground. She is also skilled at intimidation, and is capable of making someone feel physical pressure with her glare. She can also sense the emotions of Terrakion wherever she is, and occasionally receives prophetic dreams form him. She also has the ability to create miraculous effects that are associated with Terrakion or his domain, as well as heal people from a distance and even bring back the dead if she intervenes when they receive the killing blow. Once per day, she can also get insight into someone's relationship with the Legendaries, any organizations they are connected to, their weaknesses, and their general goals and motives.
It should be noted that she can only bring someone back from the dead six times in her lifetime, and she has already used two of those uses. Also, they will still be heavily injured at that point, and will probably need more medical attention afterwards. Her miracles previously have been used to restore the health of a group of three trainers and their Pokemon, as well as turn a group of stones into bread with healing properties. Another use was to instantly dig out a tunnel that would have taken 20-30 hours to finish, complete with lining it in brick with several carvings. She has five miracles left in her lifetime.
INVENTORY: Aria's Pokeball, her walking stick, her wedding ring, a bottle of her meds, wallet full of family photos, a shirt that turns into stone armor when she calls up her sword
ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW? Nira's abilities are based on the descriptions in the Pokemon Tabletop United game, not the Pokemon videogames, with some artistic license. I am fine with nerfing her supernatural abilities to ignore stuff that talks about health percentages and more game-mechanical stuff, as well as her miracles. I am also fine with her elemental shard crafting abilities being ignored since she probably won't have access to them.
M A R K S;
JUSTIFICATION: Emperor - Despite the fact that she's a mother, Nira is very commanding and powerful. She can also be stubborn on occasion, and has a lot of fighting experience.
Chariot - Nira is very self-confident and has a very strong will. She's also brave, and honorable in combat.
Strength - Nira has enough inner strength that it can translate into outer strength as well. She can also be quite gentle and soft towards kids, as well as her Pokemon. She's also definitely the kind to persevere no matter what the goal.
VETO: None
S A M P L E S;
ACTIONSPAM SAMPLE: Nira Tyr is the worst Investigator Bonus: Nira being A Mom
PROSE SAMPLE: Nira sprawled out on the bed, breathing hard at the fact that she was floating in midair with no sign of landing anytime soon. She didn't like to show weakness, but she'd make an exception for something like this. She was literally out of her element, with no way to access it except for the few rocks she could summon up herself. Even they didn't have the stability of the earth, although their presence was at least sufficient to prevent her from panicking outright and just jumping off the bed until she hit whatever ground lay below. She had the feeling that would be a bad idea, and while she was quite impulsive at times, this was not something she could fight face-to-face.
Lying next to her was Aria, her head tucked against Nira's shoulder. Nira had one arm wrapped tightly around the Absol, her therapy Pokemon's presence offering her some much-needed familiar comfort.
"They said these usually last around a week," she muttered to herself. "That's already too long." Aria nudged her sympathetically, and she sighed. "Everyone else seems to be having fun." Some people had apparently even figured out how to go flying or running around in the air. She wasn't about to try that herself. She could try jumping, but keeping her balance on these soft, wobbly mattresses would be a chore.
"Ugh," she muttered. "First that stupid tunnel of love for a married woman, than this. Are they trying to pick the worst possible liminal spaces for me?" She wasn't arrogant enough to assume they were out to get her specifically, but at the same time she felt that their ability to read her mind probably gave them some way to pick spaces that would mess with her.
